Aziz Sarıyer

Aziz Sarıyer is a designer born in Istanbul and one of the internationally recognized pioneers of contemporary Turkish design. He began his professional career in 1971 with the founding of Derin Design and soon became an influential figure in the development of modern furniture design in Türkiye.

Sarıyer's design approach is based on the experimental exploration of the relationship between form and function. His work often combines sculptural expression with practical solutions, treating material research, production techniques, and industrial processes as integral parts of the design concept.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with numerous national and international brands, including Cappellini, Moroso, Zeritalia, Altreforme, B-Line, Vitra, Derin, Nurus and Karaca. His designs have been exhibited internationally and are included in various collections.

His work has received prestigious awards such as the Wallpaper Design Awards, Elle Decor International Design Awards (EDIDA), and the Design Turkey Superior Design Award. In 2004, he was featured in the British publication "100 Designers of the 21st Century", further reinforcing his position within the global design landscape.

In addition to his design practice, Sarıyer has lectured at universities, served as a jury member in international design competitions, and participated in numerous exhibitions and conferences. Today, he continues his work together with his partner Dilruba Sarıyer within the Aziz Sarıyer Design Studio, focusing on furniture, product design, and experimental design research.
